We have made Covid an excuse for many things. But one thing Good Shepherd has not made Covid an excuse for is the continuing stewardship of God’s property at 3139 County Rd 516. There have been extensive renovations and maintenance performed in the last two years. Some of the projects include:
- New carpet and church chairs in the sanctuary
- New flooring and drywall in the conference room
- New drywall and blinds in the fellowship hall
- Rebuilding the basement stairwell and retention wall
- Painting of hallways and doors
- Installation of new live streaming cameras and equipment
- Installation of new internet wiring and commercial grade wifi
There are probably more things not included on this list. But the work is far from finished. We have identified more than $300K in capital maintenance that needs to be performed in the coming years. These projects are not optional.
The most pressing issue is the replacement of our boiler. However, after some research, we have determined that the best option is not the replacement of our boiler. Instead, we are planning an entirely different system that will be a forced-air system. This new system will provide both heating and cooling at a similar cost to simply replacing the boiler.
But we cannot do any of this without the generosity of God’s people. That is why our Year-End offering will be designated to the capital fund to replace our boiler. There are other significant needs beyond the boiler. Many of these projects may not be as visible because they are in the basement or at the church parsonage that are not often visited by church members. Nevertheless, even though they are behind the scenes, these projects are essential to the continued ministry of our church.
We ask you to prayerfully consider a generous donation to the Year-End Offering for 2021 to help fund these projects. Help us to advance God’s work in Old Bridge.
