Join us for Sunday Worship starting at 10 am as we celebrate God’s goodness and grace. His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23)! Pastor Phil is a away on vaction this week. But Deacon Steve Weiss will share our message, Sword & Shield, based on Ephesians 6. There is no sermon outline and we will not be offering Holy Communion.
Bible Adventure Day & Family Picnic
We did not have Vacation Bible School last summer because of Covid. This summer we will not have a full week of VBS, but we are planning to have a Bible Adventure Day & Family Picnic on Sunday, August 1. Starting at 2pm, we will have lessons, games, and crafts for kids. The event will conclude with a picnic at 5pm. If you would like to be part of the planning, send us an email at email@example.com.
Help Us Prep for Bible Adventure Day
We will be prepping crafts immediately after worship today. We will be preparing shields that the children will be decorating. We are also looking for donations of silver and gold metallic spray paint. For more info, please contact Barbara (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Martha (email@example.com).
Bring a Dish for Family Picnic August 1
We are looking for people who are willing to donate side dishes for our picnic. If you are interested in doing so, please contact Audrey MacDonald (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Midweek Prayer Scheduled for Wednesday
Midweek Prayer will be hosted monthly rather than weekly during the summer. Our next Midweek Prayer service is scheduled for this week, Wednesday at 7pm. The prayer Service in August will be held on August 11. You can submit any prayer requests on our website and sign up to be part of our email prayer team.
July Verse of the Month
Our Verse of the Month for July is Romans 12:1-2 from the Message Translation. Take a moment to slowly read these words and ponder their meaning.
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.(Romans 12:1–2, The Message)
Ways to Financially Support Good Shepherd
Visit gs4nj.org/give to donate. You can donate with a credit card or have the funds debited from your checking account. You can also set up automated giving set up on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or twice-monthly basis.
Another option to give is text to give. Text any dollar amount to 84321. We will reply with a link to a quick, self-guided setup process to tie your mobile phone to our church, your donor account, and a payment source.
As always checks can also be mailed. Visit our contact page for our mailing address.
If you already shop at Amazon, it is easy to support our ministry. Instead of going to amazon.com to shop, just add “smile.” before amazon.com. So the link will be smile.amazon.com. Any time you make a purchase at this link 0.5% of your purchase will go to the charity of your choice. It may not be much, but it adds up over time and as more of us make use of this service. Please keep in mind that you need to use the smile link every time you make a purchase. If you go back to using the regular Amazon link or use the Amazon app, we will not get a donation with those purchases.
Shop with Scrip
Scrip gift cards are available immediately following the Sunday worship in the Narthex. There are many cards to chose from and specific gift cards if you want. Be sure to ask what other cards are available. There are hundreds to choose from. We are grateful for all who have purchased these cards in support of our ministry. Be sure to stop and pick up a few cards.
