Kick Off Sunday
Please join us on Sunday, September 9 at 10 am for worship service. We will be “Blessing the Backpacks”, so be sure to bring yours with you. After the service, join us for the church picnic. There will be games, lots of food, a “make your own ice cream Sunday” bar and more. If you are going to bring a dish, please let Marie know at email@example.com
Sunday School: Sunday School will officially begin on Sunday, September 16th at 9 am. We will introduce a new curriculum, this year also. Letters were sent home with registration forms and calendars. If you did not receive one, there are some on the table in the Narthex. If you have any questions, please reach out to Marie in the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org, or go to gs4nj.org and search Sunday School. There are registration forms and the calendar.
New Member Orientation: Join us for a new member orientation on Saturday, October 6 from 8 am-11:30 am. During the new member orientation, we will look at what we believe, what we value, and what it means to be a member of Good Shepherd. This is for everyone who desires to learn more about the church, is interested in becoming a member, or desires to review the basics of our faith. You can sign up on line at gs4nj.org. After the orientation is over, you will have the opportunity to sign a new member covenant and then be received as a New Member.
Baptism Orientation: Good Shepherd Church of Old Bridge is hosting a baptism orientation on Saturday, October 6 at 11:30 AM (following the New Member Orientation). This orientation is for any parents who are interested in having their child baptized at Good Shepherd. The orientation will last approximately one hour. It will be led by Pastor Phil. We will look at what we as Lutherans believe and teach about baptism. We will also go through the commitments which parents make before the Lord on the day their child’s baptism. If parents are not members of Good Shepherd, they should make arrangements to attend the New Member Orientation prior to the Baptism Orientation.
If you would like more information about baptism, make sure to check out our FAQ section at about baptism on our church website. If you have any questions about this orientation, make sure to contact our church office at email@example.com.
Workshop: You are invited to join us for the Joining Jesus on His Mission Workshop with Greg Finke on Saturday, September 22 starting at 8:30 am Somerset Hills Lutheran Church in Basking Ridge, NJ. “Joining Jesus on His Mission” will alter the way you see your life as a follower of Jesus and take you beyond living your life for Jesus to living life with Jesus. Simple, powerful and applicable insights show you how to be on mission and recognize where Jesus is already at work in your neighborhoods, workplaces and schools. You will feel both relief and hope. You may even hear yourself say, “I can do this ” as you start responding to the everyday opportunities Jesus is placing in your path. If you are interested in attending, please email Marie in the church office so we make arrangements for carpooling.
Building & Grounds Team: The next meeting for the Building and Grounds Team (B&G) will be on Thursday, September 6th at 7:30 pm. If you are interested in becoming part of the team, please let Ron Humiston or Mike Lanzafama know by emailing them. We are also getting ready to plan our “fall” workday, a Saturday in October.
Old Bridge Day: Please join us on Saturday, September 22nd at Old Bridge Day. The festivities begin at noon and go until 5 pm. Good Shepherd Children’s Center will be manning a table. If you would like to help that day, please email Marie in the church office.
