Fall Service Times: Good Shepherd has been worshiping at 9 am and 10:30 am during the summer months. We plan to keep these same worship times as we enter into the new school year which will be a change. Sunday School will run during the 9 am worship. Children will come to worship together with their families at 9 and will be dismissed to Sunday School during the worship.
Sunday School and Confirmation will begin on Sunday, September 17.

Back to School Drive is ending soon: Please pick up a list of items needed for the “Back to School Drive” from the table in the Narthex. The first drop off was made on August 21, but we will be collecting until September 20th. We would like to help as many kids as possible have a good start for the beginning of the school year, so please bring your supplies in by next Sunday, August 20th. Thanks for your continued support.
Haiti Mission Trip: Have you been to Haiti and can’t wait to go back? Have you never been to Haiti, but have a calling on your heart to go? Then join us March 3-10, 2018 as HCM makes another trip back to Haiti! The vision of this trip falls in line with the vision of our ministry. Our vision is: to the share the story and to inspire God’s people to help the children of Haiti. Pianist or musician needed: Twice a month, the Deacons go to the Golden Living Care Center on Route 18 and hold a service for the people there. New Member Orientation: Join us for a new member orientation on Saturday, September 23 from 8 am-11:30 am. During the new member orientation, we will look at what we believe, what we value, and what it means to be a member of Good Shepherd. This is for everyone who desires to learn more about the church, is interested in becoming a member, or desires to review the basics of our faith. After the orientation is over, you will have the opportunity to sign a new member covenant and then be received as a New Member of Good Shepherd.
Baptism Orientation: Saturday, September 23 at 11:30 am. This orientation is for any parents who are interested in having their child baptized at Good Shepherd. The orientation will last approximately one hour. It will be led by Pastor Phil. We will look at what we as Lutherans believe and teach about baptism. We will also go through the commitments which parents make before the Lord on the day their child’s baptism. If parents are not members of Good Shepherd they should make arrangements to attend the New Member Orientation prior to the Baptism Orientation.

The Good Shepherd Bowling League is looking for a few more people to join in on the fun on Monday nights. We will begin again in September, and usually go until the middle of May. We bowl at Strathmore Lanes in Aberdeen, right on Route 34 and we begin at 8 pm. It is not a competitive league, you don’t have to be a great bowler, just like to have fun and fellowship with others. Youth Group: The National Youth Gathering will be here before you know it! There will be a mandatory youth group meeting for any child who is interested in going to the National Youth Gathering in 2019. Children in grades 7- 10 will be eligible to go as a participant to the gathering. Children in 11th grade to college can participate as a Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) and should still come to the meeting for information. Parents and children must attend to get information and let the leaders know if they intend to go on the trip. We will cover fundraising, cost of attendance and requirements to go on the trip. The meeting will be September 17th at 11:45 in the resource room. We will also be having the first youth group meeting on 10/1/17 from 11:45 to 1pm.
