Thanksgiving at Good Shepherd
Thanksgiving Eve Worship
Join us for worship on Thanksgiving Eve at 7 pm, Wednesday, November 27. We give God thanks for his many blessings!
Helping Those in Need for Thanksgiving
There are a few families that are in need of help with food for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We need a few turkeys, but mostly need money for gift cards. There are envelopes in the Narthex marked “Thanksgiving Drive.” Please feel free to use one and put in the box under the TV, or in the mailbox outside the church office. If you wish to purchase gift cards, you can get Shop with Scrip Cards at the kitchen counter after service.
Christmas at Good Shepherd
Christmas Eve Worship Services
Worship Services on Christmas Eve will be at 5 and 7 pm. 5 pm will be family service focused on families with children. There will be no communion during the 5 pm service. 7 pm will be a more traditional candlelight service that will include communion. If anyone is interested in singing in the “Christmas Choir” or wants to play an instrument, please sign up on today’s connection card.
The Angel Tree is up and just waiting to have the angels taken off. Be sure to sign the book when you take an angel. The gifts are due back by December 1st.
Our “Bag & Tag” will be on Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:30 pm. If you can help, please join us.
Decorating the Church for Christmas
We need extra hands to get the church decorated for Christmas. Please join us on Sunday, November 24th immediately following the 10:30 service as we “Deck the Halls”. If you can join us, please fill out the connection card or just join in on the fun following the 10:30 service on the 24th.
Good Shepherd hosted our annual fall voters’ meeting on Sunday, November 17. We shared an update on the church finances and the progress of the vision team. We appointed Gwen G. and Christine M. to serve 3-year terms on our admin board. We also shared an update on the Good Shepherd Children’s Center.
Two years ago we took out a 90k loan from LCEF to keep the doors of Good Shepherd Children’s Center open. Since then our enrollment has increased to record numbers. We have gone from 4 classes to 7. We re-opened kindergarten. And during this meeting, we burned the note on the loan after having paid back the full balance! Watch the video of us burning the note!
Men’s Bible Study
Join us for Men’s Bible Study on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month, starting at 8am in the resource room. Our next gatherings will be:
- December 14 (Led by Pastor Phil)
- January 11
- January 25
We have a “security team” that is trying to develop a plan and procedures for our facility in the event we have an emergency (i.e. active shooter, or unknown threat at the school or church, fire). If you would be interested in being a part of this planning team, please email the church office. The next meeting for this planning team will take place on Sunday, January 5th, 2020 after the 10:30 worship service. If you would like to be part of this planning team, please email the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you miss worship on Sunday morning, you can still watch or listen to sermons online. Just visit gs4nj.org/podcast to find all our messages. We also stream live our messages on Facebook during the late worship service. You can log in each Sunday around 10:50 am to hear the message.
