New Member Orientation:Join us for a new member orientation on Saturday, September 29 from 8 am-11:30am. During the new member orientation, we will look at what we believe, what we value, and what it means to be a member of Good Shepherd. This is for everyone who desires to learn more about the church, is interested in becoming a member, or desires to review the basics of our faith. You can sign up by marking your Connection Card.
After the orientation is over, you will have the opportunity to sign a new member covenant and then be received as a New Member.
Baptism Orientation: Good Shepherd Church of Old Bridge is hosting a baptism orientation on Saturday, September 29 at 11:30 AM (following the New Member Orientation). This orientation is for any parents who are interested in having their child baptized at Good Shepherd. The orientation will last approximately one hour. It will be led by Pastor Phil. We will look at what we as Lutherans believe and teach about baptism. We will also go through the commitments which parents make before the Lord on the day their child’s baptism. If parents are not members of Good Shepherd, they should make arrangements to attend the New Member Orientation prior to the Baptism Orientation.
If you would like more information about baptism, make sure to check out our FAQ section at about baptism on our church website. If you have any questions about this orientation, make sure to contact our church office at .
Kick Off Sunday: Please join us on Sunday, September 9th for our “Kick-Off” event. There will be one service at 10 am immediately followed by a church picnic. There will be games, lots of food, and of course great fellowship.
If you would like to bring a dish, please let Linda C know, or write it on the connection card. We also need help with set up and clean up. If you have a “canopy/tent” that we can borrow for the day, please let us know by signing the connection card.
Sunday School: Sunday School will officially begin on Sunday, September 16th at 9 am. We will introduce a new curriculum, this year also. There are letters with registration forms and calendars on the table in the Narthex (these are also being mailed out). If you have any questions, please reach out to Marie in the church office.
Workshop: You are invited to join us for the Joining Jesus on His Mission Workshop with Greg Finke on Saturday, September 22 starting at 8:30 am Somerset Hills Lutheran Church in Basking Ridge, NJ. Joining Jesus on His Mission will alter the way you see your life as a follower of Jesus and take you beyond living your life for Jesus to living life with Jesus. Simple, powerful and applicable insights show you how to be on mission and recognize where Jesus is already at work in your neighborhoods, workplaces and schools. You will feel both relief and hope. You may even hear yourself say, “I can do this ” as you start responding to the everyday opportunities Jesus is placing in your path. If you are interested in attending, please sign up on your connection card today as we make arrangements for carpooling.
Building & Grounds Team: The next meeting for the Building and Grounds Team (B&G) will be on Thursday, September 6th at 7:30 pm. If you are interested in becoming part of the team, please let us know by signing up on todays connection card. We are also getting ready to plan our “fall” workday, a Saturday in October
