GSCC Summer Camp: The Children’s Center is expanding their Summer Camp Program to 5 full days (6 am to 6 pm). There is information in the Narthex. If you need more details, please contact Marianne Krawiec — .
Children’s Center Events: April 17th is the Texas Roadhouse Fundraiser, and on April 25th and 26th, the children will have a visit from Kidzdent in honor of Dental Health Month. Summer Camp Registrations are open, there are forms in the Narthex for you to use, or you can go to the school website for more information. If you know of someone with young children, invite them to the Open House, and tell them about our Summer Camp.
Texas Roadhouse Fundraiser: On Tuesday, April 17th from 4 – 10 pm, The Good Shepherd Children’s Center will be hosting a fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse, in Parlin. (Tuesday night is kids night so there is always something special for them.) 10% of each bill will be donated to the Children’s Center. Faith Caban has ordered Texas Roadhouse gift cards for you to purchase, so not only are you helping the Children’s Center, but by purchasing a gift card, you will be helping the church too. This is a Win Win for both. Flyers will be available on the Kitchen counter (near the gift cards), and on the bulletin boards. You can also download a flyer on the church website.
First Communion Class: The First Communion Class for 6th grade students is on Saturday, April 21st at 10 am.
Spring Work Day: Mark your calendars; Spring Work Day will be Saturday, May 5th starting 8:30 am. There are always many different types of jobs to be done in and around the church, and the more hands the better. Please sign up on today’s connection card. If you have a specialty (electrician, plumber, etc.). please let us know.
Coordinator Needed: Many people have asked about the Sunday Morning Coffee Hour. If you wish to be the coordinator of this, i.e. get volunteers to help set up, clean up on Sunday mornings, please let in the church office know.
Bagging at Shoprite: On Saturday, May 12th, we will be bagging groceries at the Shop Rite on Route 9 North from 10 am – 4 pm. There will be a sign- up sheet in the Narthex. You can take a two-hour shift, or stay the whole time, whatever works into your schedule. ALL proceeds will go towards the Numana Meal Packing Event. If you have any questions, please see Mike Lanzafama or Martha Beth.
Mowers Needed: Spring, yes Spring is upon us (if the snow would stop), and that means it’s time for the grass to start growing, and the weeds will begin to pop up. If you are interested in helping keep the grounds looking nice, please sign up on today’s connection card. Even if you are already on the “team”, please sign up so we know who is going to continue to help with mowing, weeding, weed whacking, etc. If you have any questions, please see
Numana Meal Packing Event 2018: We will be hosting our meal packing event on Saturday, June 2, 1028. We packed 80,000 meals last year, but this year we hope to double that number and pack 160,000 meals. Double the meals will help double the children. This means we will need to raise $48,000 to make that happen. That is a big number, but we can break that number down. We will pack 740 boxes that contain 216 meals each. Each box is $65. We need just 740 donations of $65. Another way of looking at it is that each meal costs 30¢. For every .30¢ that is donated, we can provide one more meal. It happens just a little bit at a time. Donations can be made online by going to gs4nj.org/mealpacking. This link will take you to the donation page for our meal packing event on Numana’s website. If you would like to send a check, it can be made out to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and specify “For Numana Meal Packing event” on the memo line.
Spare Change for Haiti: We will be collecting any spare change each week to help our Numana Meal Packing Event. So, each Sunday bring in any spare change and drop it in the offering plate as it passes by. Last year we collected over $1000 in spare change for the meal packing event. Let’s see if we can beat that!
